For me, the most striking thing about winter is its lack of color. All other seasons have complex colors, but winter… resembles led pencil graphics more than anything. Winter is somewhat reminiscent of Lent - no color, no scent… This makes the return of life in spring all the more precious. I grew up in a country where winter lasts a third of the year. Quite curiously, the long winter have followed me to Canada as well.
